Quattro Pro-Staff member, Danelle Wentzel commences to the Gold medal match!
The weather played along nicely today, which makes the competition only that much harder. The scores were high on the Compound elimination field. Some were sent home with 149's and some went through with lower. Danelle started in the second round after ranking in the top 8. Her first match was decided with a one arrow shootoff where Danelle made the better shot.
In the 3rd round Danelle was up against the famous Tanja Jensen from Denmark. With a strong start from Danelle, she managed to stay out in front for the rest of the match to take the win with one point.
The quarter final was a nail biting round. Danelle started behind with one point. In the 3rd end the scores were even on a 88/90. The 4th end 117/120 for both Toja and Danelle. To make sure she'll win the match or just draw even, she knew that she had to shoot a 30. And Danelle did just that. Danelle took the match 147 over Toja's 145.
The quarter final is probably the round with the most pressure. It is the round where it will be decided if you'll have a chance to shoot for a medal or left with nothing but experience.
Danelle continued to push on in the semifinal and shot a 147 against a 143 of her opponent to claim the spot to shoot out for the gold medal against Alexis Ruiz.
The finals will take place on Saturday 25 May. Follow all the action from the link below: https://worldarchery.org/competition/18156/antalya-2019-archery-world-cup#/
